Origin

of the name

The name Nestville Distillery was created by combining the words NEST and VILLE, where “NEST” means nest and “VILLE” is an abbreviation of the English word “VILLAGE”, which means village, or in full translation Hniezdne. This picturesque village of Hniezdne is located just 5 km east of Stará Ľubovna and its first written mention dates back to 1286.

of Northern Spiš

Nestville Distillery follows the ancient distilling traditions of northern Spiš, which are historically documented and measured for up to three centuries. The company decided to restore this uniqueness in its production of spirits, which are largely reminiscent of the tradition, history and skill of the people living in this region.

In addition to a state-of-the-art distillery and a new liqueur cellar, Nestville Distillery in Hniezdno has also created an exhibition of the history and present of distilling and related crafts in northern Spiš. Visitors to the exhibition can see a cross-section of the history and present of distilling in an interesting and attractive form.

We have preserved the original ideas and thus become the continuous successors of a 260-year-old tradition. It is not only a moral right to continue this tradition, but also a duty we owe to our ancestors, given history.
