Nestville Distillery

About us

Origin of

the name

The name Nestville Distillery was coined by combining the words NEST and VILLE to create Nestville, which is essentially a translation of Hniezdne, the village where the company is based (“hniezdo” means “nest” in Slovak). Hniezdne is a picturesque village just 5 km west of Stará Ľubovňa. The earliest written mention of the village dates back to 1286.
Traditions of

northern Spiš

Nestville Distillery carries on the old distilling traditions of northern Spiš, which are historically documented and can be traced back three centuries. The company decided to revive this uniqueness in its production of spirits that are very much in tune with the heritage, history, and craftsmanship of the people who live in the region.
Distilling

exhibition

In Hniezdne, alongside its state-of-the-art alcohol plant and new distillery, Nestville Distillery has created an exhibition of the past and present of distilling and related crafts in the northern Spiš region. Visitors to the exhibition can see a cross-section of the past and present of the distilling industry displayed in an interesting and engaging way.
The story

continues

By keeping to the original ideas, we have smoothly carried on a 260-year tradition. The continuation of this tradition is not only a moral right, but also – given the history here – a duty that we owe to our ancestors.
